On January 23rd, NASCAR made yet another mark on history by changing the race format in hopes of drawing and securing a younger crowd in the near future. How does the new system work if you ask me? Haha, I have yet to delve deeper in how, but what I can tell you is is that I am excited to see how it plays out knowing now that every lap will be excited. Instead of long and boring stretch of racing. We now get to see three divided stages and a top ten point system that will crown a regular season champ. Along with that the "Chase" is no longer the chase. Some are upset by that, but you have to release times are changing. The chase has more to do with racing obviously. With Monster Energy here it makes more sense that the chase is now titled "Playoffs". I like the new term and the three divided segments because it is reminiscent of dirt track style format racing. The overall reaction from the NASCAR community of these new rules are a bit of surprise. Not most are used to change and it's always been the same for a long time. We live in a fast paced world where the new generation likes short term suspense and they have a thrill each minute. We now have a new invigorating system to watch with all the other rules implemented to are for a good recipe of racing. What do you think?
