Welcome to Kylifornia, LARsonland located just next to Rob Loweland.... that was dumb I admit it. The weekend at Auto Club was great In my opinion. Kyle Larson swept the weekend. The racing surface that is 20 years old, produced lots of shuffling especially on restarts. Along with great race passing during long green flag runs. There was a tweet from Joey Logano who yes is my top favorite Driver in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series saying in a thought of having two races at Auto Club. This track was once apart of the schedule twice, but as a result attendance went in decline. As for the racing over the weekend I found the shuffling of positions to be the strong point and random entanglements that gave the race it's momentum. One entanglement to note that something I don't like seeing when a car wrecks is Matt Kenseth's wall hit. Thank god for safer barriers. The top two winners of the first two stage races went to Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr. The stage racing once again proved worthy at Auto Club. I think stage racing is still a good idea, but it might not work at every track. NASCAR is doing its job by trying to accrue more fans, but the stages like most new ideas aren't a one size fits all solution to make racing better. One note I found silly, but cool was Jimmie Johnson's slide into his pit stall which was still legal to perform. Who knows what other tracks where the stage racing will work at. I know it's a step in the right direction. Our fanbase is a finicky one, but I know for a fact it will pay off in the future.
